[Junos] Troubleshooting mixed-speed error and commit failure

Summary:

Users may encounter a mixed-speed error and commit failure when adding a member link to the AE bundle from a different PIC on the same Flexible PIC Concentrator (FPC) or different FPC.

This article explains that the error could be due to incorrect values being configured for speed on the Physical Interface Card (PIC) of an FPC.

 

Symptoms:

A mixed-speed error is encountered while adding a member link to the AE bundle from a different PIC on the same FPC or a different FPC.

In the following example, PIC 1 is configured for oc48-stm16 speed.

When you add a new member link to the existing AE bundle, an error is reported as follows:

error: Interface ae4 with child links of mixed speed but link-speed mixed is not configured
error: configuration check-out failed

 

Cause:

The Physical Interface Card (PIC) of the FPC is misconfigured with incorrect values for speed.

In the above example, instead of configuring PIC2 for oc48-stm16 speed, PIC1 is configured with this speed. PIC1 is a 10GE port and so does not support this speed, which is why the mixed-speed error is output.

 

Solution:

To resolve this problem, correct the speed configuration of the PIC as shown:
