[NFX] vSRX stuck in boot loop after consecutive power reaches NFX

Summary:

After a power outage, vSRX gets stuck in a boot loop and the VNF never comes up. It continues to reboot.

Symptoms:

Previously, the only way to resolve this issue was to replace the corrupt QCOW image with a known working QCOW image.

Solution:

Now, a corrupted QCOW image caused by power outage can restored with the following steps:

  1. Connect to vSRX VM via console.

  2. Reboot vSRX VM.

  3. Type "Ctrl-C" to enter boot option menu.

  4. Type 5 More Options from Main Menu.

  5. Type 3 Check [F]ile system.

    It may take you to a login with Amnesiac showing the following:

    FreeBSD/amd64 (Amnesiac) (ttyu0)
    login:
    *********************************
    Hit - CTRL ] to exit to JDM:

    From JDM shell do the following:

    virsh destroy vsrxName
  6. Go into CLI and the config. Delete the config for the specific VNF and commit.

  7. Then re-add the config and commit.

  8. Console back into the vSRX.

VNF should come up recovered.
