Article ID: KB34907 KB Last Updated: 28 Aug 2019Version: 1.0

This article explains how to collect core files from the host OS for troubleshooting on QFX devices.

The show system core-dumps command may show Guest and Host files.

root@sw> show system core-dumps

-rwxrwxrwx 1 root wheel 478363 Jan 12 2019 /var/tmp/vmcore.core.0.gz* ### Guest Files ###
total files: 1

Host Crash Info: ### Host Files ###
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 8910862 Jan 17 11:55 /var/tmp/corefiles/sw.dcpfe.3876.1344520096.core.tgz
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 8759442 Feb 24 17:29 /var/tmp/corefiles/sw.dcpfe.670.1354112534.core.tgz

To collect these files, move them to the Junos OS Guest VM by using the following command:

user@switch> request app-engine file-copy crash from-jhost source-file-name to-vjunos destination-path

user@switch> request app-engine file-copy crash from-jhost localhost.lcmd.26653.1455520135.core.tgz to-vjunos /var/tmp

When the files are on /var/tmp, you can use FTP or USB to copy them out of the switch.

For more information about using FTP or USB to copy these files from the switch, refer to the following:
