Article ID: KB35022 KB Last Updated: 12 Sep 2019Version: 1.0
Summary:

This article explains why the message, 'RPD_KRT_Q_RETRIES: nexthop ADD: No such file or directory' appears in the syslog of SRX5K devices.

Symptoms:

The following syslog message is seen continuously, even after rebooting the device.

rpd[6779]: %DAEMON-3-RPD_KRT_Q_RETRIES: nexthop ADD: No such file or directory
rpd[6779]: %DAEMON-3-RPD_KRT_Q_RETRIES: nexthop ADD: No such file or directory

rpd[6779]: %DAEMON-3-RPD_KRT_Q_RETRIES: nexthop ADD: No such file or directory
Cause:

Invalid or wrong next-hop is configured in static route setting.

Example:

fxp0.0                  up    up   inet     172.16.1.1/24

However, from the static route setting:

set static route 192.168.1.0/24 qualified-next-hop 172.16.2.2 interface fxp0

The following error is returned from the show command, and the above syslog outputs continuously.

# run show krt queue

Interface add/delete/change queue: 0 queued
Top-priority deletion queue: 0 queued
Top-priority change queue: 0 queued
Top-priority add queue: 0 queued

Normal-priority pfe table nexthop queue: 0 queued
EVPN gencfg queue: 0 queued
Normal-priority gmp queue: 0 queued
Routing table delete queue: 0 queued
Low priority route retry queue: 0 queued

Solution:

Use the correct next-hop:

set static route 192.168.1.0/24 qualified-next-hop 172.16.1.2 interface fxp0
commit

Or try to delete the setting:

delete static route 192.168.1.0/24 qualified-next-hop 172.16.2.2 interface fxp0
commit

Then the error will disappear as below, and the syslog will not be logged in the output again.

# run show krt queue
Routing table add queue: 0 queued
Interface add/delete/change queue: 0 queued
Top-priority deletion queue: 0 queued
Top-priority change queue: 0 queued
