Solution:

To change the severity of an event, perform the following steps:

  1. Navigate to Network Management Platform > Network Monitoring > Events > All Events and identify the name of the event for which the severity is to be changed.

In the above example, the event is jnxFabricFruInsertion and the Severity is Normal.

  1. Now log in to the Command Line Interface (CLI) of the Junos Space server. Select Option 7 if the Space server is a VM or Option 6 if it is JA2500 to enter into shell mode.

[sudo] password for admin:
  1. Navigate to the /opt/opennms/etc directory.

root@space-005056bd0e10 etc] cd /opt/opennms/etc/
  1. To identify the MIB file for this event, search for the event name as shown:

root@space-005056bd0e10 etc]# grep -inr "jnxFabricFruInsertion"
events/JuniperEvents/mib-jnx-fabric-chassis.xml:473: uei.opennms.org/traps/JUNIPER-FABRIC-CHASSIS/jnxFabricFruInsertion
events/JuniperEvents/mib-jnx-fabric-chassis.xml:474: JUNIPER-FABRIC-CHASSIS defined trap event: jnxFabricFruInsertion
events/JuniperEvents/mib-jnx-fabric-chassis.xml:476:<p>A jnxFabricFruInsertion trap signifies that the SNMP
events/JuniperEvents/mib-jnx-fabric-chassis.xml:531: jnxFabricFruInsertion trap received
  1. Using the above output, we can identify the file where a particular event is defined, in this case, mib-jnx-fabric-chassis.xml.

  2. Navigate to Network Management Platform > Network Monitoring > Admin > Manage Events Configuration. Search for the MIB file by using the Select Event Configuration File search box as shown below.

  1. From the list that is available, scroll and identify the event for which you want to change the severity.

  1. Select the event and click Edit at the bottom of the page.

  1. Modify the severity as per your requirement by selecting an option from the Severity drop-down menu.

  1. After making the required changes, click Save at the bottom of the page and also click Save Events File at the top-right corner.

  1. To verify, navigate to the Network Management Platform > Network Monitoring > Events > All Events page and you will see that the severity for event jnxFabricFruInsertion has been changed.
