Summary:

This article explains the error message seen on QFX5100 after a reboot/upgrade or while doing a commit.

Symptoms:

The following errors are seen in the CLI after a reboot/upgrade/commit:

kvm: 7257: cpu0 kvm_set_msr_common: MSR_IA32_DEBUGCTLMSR 0x2, nop
kvm: 7257: cpu0 kvm_set_msr_common: MSR_IA32_DEBUGCTLMSR 0x2, nop
kvm: 7257: cpu0 kvm_set_msr_common: MSR_IA32_DEBUGCTLMSR 0x2, nop
kvm: 7257: cpu0 kvm_set_msr_common: MSR_IA32_DEBUGCTLMSR 0x2, nop
kvm: 7257: cpu0 kvm_set_msr_common: MSR_IA32_DEBUGCTLMSR 0x2, nop
kvm: 7257: cpu0 kvm_set_msr_common: MSR_IA32_DEBUGCTLMSR 0x2, nop

Solution:

These messages are harmless and generated by the KVM (kernel based VM). They can be safely ignored as messages have debugging level.
