Syslog message: 'rmopd[50327]: %DAEMON-6-PING_INGRESS_THRESHOLD_EXCEEDED: pingCtlOwnerIndex = OPS-NET, pingCtlTestName = DDN068'

Article ID: KB36190 KB Last Updated: 03 Sep 2020Version: 1.0

This article discusses the following syslog message:

rmopd[50327]: %DAEMON-6-PING_INGRESS_THRESHOLD_EXCEEDED: pingCtlOwnerIndex = OPS-NET, pingCtlTestName = DDN068

On the client, the RPM is configured as below:

services {
    rpm {
        probe OPS-NET {
            test DDN068 {
                probe-type icmp-ping-timestamp;
                target address;
                probe-interval 5;
                dscp-code-points cs7;
                thresholds {
                    ingress-time 1000;

And this syslog message is seen:

rmopd[50327]: %DAEMON-6-PING_INGRESS_THRESHOLD_EXCEEDED: pingCtlOwnerIndex = OPS-NET, pingCtlTestName = DDN068” flood.

The syslog messages indicates the ingress trip time jitter threshold is exceeded. In this case, the ingress trip time threshold is 1000.

The solution is set ingress-time threshold to 0. Traps will not be triggered when the jitter in ingress-time threshold is met or exceeded.
For more information, refer to the technical documentation on thresholds.
