[Sky Enterprise] Unable to add device with RADIUS enabled

Summary:

When trying to add a new SRX device in Sky Enterprise that is RADIUS enabled, users may get the following error:

translation missing: en.custom.errors.messages.format_naming_alpha_num_dot_und_at_exc_dol_perc_hash 

This article states that the error is due to selection of the MD5 hash password option while adding the device. Deselecting this option should resolve the problem.

 

Symptoms:

The following error is encountered while trying to add a new SRX device to Sky Enterprise that is RADIUS enabled:

Cause:

Certain older versions of code on systems such as EX running on Junos OS 12.3R12 and other devices required the MD5 hash password. In the present scenario, since you are not doing local authentication and are using RADIUS authentication instead, the local user password is bypassed.

 

Solution:

To resolve this problem, perform the following:

  1. When adding the device, select the Show Optional Fields? check box in the configlet.

  2. Select the "Radius enabled" check box to select the authentication method.

  3. Enter the username and password that were specified in RADIUS for this device.

  4. Do not select the "Legacy MD5 password" check box because you are not doing local authentication. Because you are enabling RADIUS authentication, the local user password is bypassed. Hence there is no requirement to use the MD5 hash.
