[Contrail] How to increase the verbosity of the Contrail schema logs

Article ID: KB36308 KB Last Updated: 03 Feb 2021Version: 1.0

This article provides instructions for changing the schema logging level for troubleshooting purposes.

The schema is crashing in all Contrail nodes. How can I get more information about the failure?

The schema logging level in Contrail can be increased from Schema Introspect. Perform the following steps:

  1. Find the IP address of the active schema node in your environment by using the following command in all the nodes: contrail-status | grep active.

# contrail-status | grep schema
config           schema          contrail-controller-config-schema      running  76914072e7f2  Up 6 days
schema: active
  1. Note down the IP address of the active schema node.

  2. Log in to Contrail Schema Introspect at http://<active schema controller ip>:8087. The following screen appears.

  1. Click sandesh_uve.

  2. Click SandeshLoggingParamsSet and in the log_level(string) field, enter SYS_DEBUG as the value. Click Send.

A successful log level change is indicated as shown below:

  1. To revert to the earlier logging level, click SandeshLoggingParamsSet and in the log_level(string) field, enter SYS_NOTICE. Click Send.

Note: Restart of schema will automatically revert the logging level from SYS_DEBUG to SYS_NOTICE.
