Article ID: KB36347 KB Last Updated: 29 Dec 2020Version: 1.0
Summary:

Users may find that attempting to upgrade an EX3400 device by using the Junos Upgrade tab fails with the log entry "MD5 mismatch."

This article explains that the MD5 mismatch is due to the upgrade image size exceeding the available disk space, and that freeing up disk space should resolve the problem.

Symptoms:

Attempting to upgrade an EX3400 device to Junos OS 20.2R1 fails with the following log message:

2020-12-01 12:23 connection establish to jtac-EX3400-24P-r002-jnprrng
2020-12-01 12:23 system cleanup completed successfully
2020-12-01 12:25 file successfully copied to device
2020-12-01 12:25 md5 mismatch

Solution:

Here's how you can troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

  1. On the Junos Upgrade tab, verify if the Image Size is less than Available Disk Space.

  1. If the Image Size exceeds Available Disk Space, then the MD5 Mismatch error log will be reported. You will then have to free up as much space as possible, so that you can perform the upgrade.
