[Junos] Slow file transfer to device

0

0

Article ID: KB36507 KB Last Updated: 13 Feb 2021Version: 1.0
Summary:

Transferring a file to the device via FTP/SFTP using WinSCP or any other client is slow.

Symptoms:
  1. File transfer via ftp/sftp is very slow.
  2. The problem is still seen even with a different ftp/sftp client.
  3. Also occurs during image file transfer for the device upgrade.
Cause:

When a policer is applied in the configuration for the loopback interface, then it may result in slow file transfer to the device.

Policer example:

firewall {
policer policer-name {
filter-specific;
if-exceeding {
bandwidth-limit bps;
bandwidth-percent number;
burst-size-limit bytes;
}
then {
policer-action;
}
}
}
Solution:
  1. Deactivate the policer term in the firewall filter on the loopback before transferring the file.

  2. Once the transfer is complete, activate the policer back. The policer is to protect the RE.
