[QFX10002-60C] How to collect vmhost logs from the device

This article explains how to collect host logs which is called vmhost logs for QFX10002-60C. This procedure is different from other QFX models.

  1. Login with root user to the shell

    labroot@jtac-QFX10002-60C-r002> start shell user root    
    root@jtac-QFX10002-60C-r002:/var/home/labroot #
  2. Login to the host

    root@jtac-QFX10002-60C-r002:/var/home/labroot # vhclient -s
    Last login: Wed Feb 10 14:45:01 PST 2021 from C12-22 on pts/0
  3. Compress the files

    root@jtac-QFX10002-60C-r002-node:~# tar -cf ~/host_logs.tar -C /var/log/*
    tar: Removing leading `/' from member names
  4. Confirm the file

    root@jtac-QFX10002-60C-r002-node:~# ls -l | grep host
    -rw-r--r--. 1 root root 206950400 Feb 25 20:15 host_logs.tar
  5. Copy the file to Junos VM /var/tmp

    root@jtac-QFX10002-60C-r002-node:~# scp host_logs.tar root@
    100%  197MB  49.3MB/s   00:04    
  6. Verify the file in /var/tmp

    labroot@jtac-QFX10002-60C-r002> file list /var/tmp | match host
