[EX] Syslog Message - "vlan-id(32768) to bd-id mapping doesn't exist in itable"

Summary:

This article explains why the "vlan-id(32768) to bd-id mapping doesn't exist in itable" log message may be seen in EX Series switches and details the action to be taken to clear this message.


 
Symptoms:

The following log message may be seen frequently and the messages may be turning over the log messages file repeatedly: 

vlan-id(32768) to bd-id mapping doesn't exist in itable
Cause:

This log is reported when an incomplete configuration exists and an address is not specified under the family inet hierarchy. 

Example 

{master:0}[edit]
switch-1# set interfaces irb unit 0 family inet                       
{master:0}[edit]
switch-1#commit 

{master:0}[edit]
root@s08-11# show interfaces
irb {
    unit 0 {
        family inet;                   <<<<<<<<<<<<<< No address is specified. 

IRB has been configured for family inet, but no address is specified in the above example.  

The following log messages are seen due to the above incomplete configuration:

Jul 20 00:33:20  s08-11 pfex: vlan-id(32768) to bd-id mapping doesn't exist in itable
Jul 20 00:33:20  s08-11 fpc0 vlan-id(32768) to bd-id mapping doesn't exist in itable
Jul 20 00:33:20  s08-11 pfex: vlan-id(32768) to bd-id mapping doesn't exist in itable
Jul 20 00:33:20  s08-11 fpc0 vlan-id(32768) to bd-id mapping doesn't exist in itable
Jul 20 00:33:20  s08-11 pfex: vlan-id(32768) to bd-id mapping doesn't exist in itable
Jul 20 00:33:20  s08-11 fpc0 vlan-id(32768) to bd-id mapping doesn't exist in itable
Solution:

To clear these log messages, delete all unnecessary incomplete configurations or dummy interfaces that do not have an IP address assigned under the family inet hierarchy.

rswitch-1# commit
