  [KB4066] Show Article Properties

If your NetScreen firewall contains a RJ-45 console connector, follow the directions below to access the Command Line Interface via the Console Port.
Warning: Use a straight-through RJ-45 CAT5 cable with a male RJ-45 connector to plug in the Console port on the device.

Note:  This procedure is also documented in the Technical Documentation:
  1. Go to Juniper Networks Security Devices
  2. Click the link for your Security Device
  3. Select the Hardware Installation and Configuration Guide (or it may be called Installer's Guide)
  4. Refer to the 'Using a Console Connection' section or 'Establishing a Terminal Emulator Connection' section.

To access the Command Line Interface via the Console port on the Firewall device, perform the following steps:

Note: The Firewall has an RJ-45 port, called the Console port, that allows you to establish a console session with the firewall.
  1. Plug the female end of the supplied DB-9 adapter into the serial port of your workstation. Then plug one end of the RJ-45 CAT5 cable into the DB-9 adapter.
  2. Connect the other end of the RJ-45 cable into the Console port of your Firewall device.
