Downloading the Asset Recovery Log

Symptoms:

Solution:

The Firewall provides an asset recovery log to display information about each time the device is returned to its default settings using the asset recovery procedure. In addition to viewing the asset recovery log through the WebUI or CLI, you can also open or save the file to the location you specify. Use an ASCII text editor (such as Notepad) to view the file.

To identify how many times the device has been reset to factory defaults, consult: KB5946 - In the "get system" output, what does 'Total Device Resets' mean?


To download the asset recovery log, perform the following steps:

Step one: Open the WebUI. For an example of how to access the WebUI, consult: KB4060 - Accessing Your NetScreen, SSG, or ISG Firewall Using the WebUI
 

From the NetScreen options menu, click Reports, select System Log, and then click Asset Recovery.

From the Asset Recovery page, click Save.

From the File Download dialog box, click Save.

From the Save As dialog box, click Save.

From the Download complete dialog box, click Open.

From the Open With dialog box, scroll to select an ASCII text editor, and then click OK.

To view the asset recovery log from the CLI, issue get log asset-recovery
