How Do I Define a DIP Pool Outside of an Interface Subnet?


Note: This article applies to ScreenOS 4.0 and higher.

You can define a Dynamic IP (DIP) pool outside the trusted interface by using the extended interface option. This will allow you to define a DIP pool outside the trusted interface only.

To define a DIP pool outside of an interface subnet, perform the following steps:

Open the WebUI. For more information on accessing the WebUI, go to Accessing Your NetScreen Using the WebUI.

From the NetScreen options menu, click Network, and then click Interfaces.

From trust, click Edit.

From the Edit screen, click DIP.

Click New.

Click to select IP Address Range, and then enter a DIP pool address range.

Click to select In the same subnet as the extended IP, and enter an Extended IP/Netmask.The Extended IP/Netmask functions as a secondary interface.

Click OK.The actual extended DIP will not include this extended IP address/netmask.
