This article answers the question: "How do I enable ping on a public interface?


To enable ping on the public interface via the WebUI, perform the following procedure:

  1. Open the WebUI. For more information about accessing the WebUI, go to Accessing Your NetScreen Using the WebUI.

  2. From the NetScreen options menu, click Network, and then click Interfaces.

  1. In the interface list, from Untrust Zone, click Edit.

  1. From Other Services, click to select Ping.

  1. Click OK.


To enable ping on the public interface via the Command Line Interface (ssh/telnet/console), perform the following steps:

  1. Log on to the firewall via telnet/SSH/console.

  2. Type the following command:

set interface <interface-name> manage ping
