[ScreenOS] How to enable ping management on the trusted interface

This article provides information on how to enable ping management on the trusted interface.



  • This article is applicable to ScreenOS 4.0 or later.
  • For VPN troubleshooting, enable ping management on both of the firewalls.


To enable ping management on the trusted interface, perform the following procedure:

  1. Open the WebUI. For more information on accessing the WebUI, refer to KB4317 - [ScreenOS] Accessing your Juniper firewall device using the WebUI.
  2. From the NetScreen options menu, click Network and then Interfaces:

  3. Locate the ethernet1 interface and then click Edit:

  4. From Service Options, select the Ping check box:

  5. Click OK.


The command to enable ping is as follows:
set interface  etherner1/1 manage ping
