To determine if you have the M or M2 Management module for your NetScreen-5200, perform the following steps:

Open the Command Line Interface (CLI). For more information on how to open the CLI, go to Accessing the Command Line Interface Using Telnet.

Enter get sys; press ENTER.

The Product Name will display NS5200-II if it has an M2-Management module. If it has the M-Management module, then the Product Name will display NS5000.

M2 Example:
ns5200(M)-> get system
Product Name: NS5200-II
Serial Number: 0040052002000003, Control Number: 00000000
Hardware Version: 3010(0)-(03), FPGA checksum: 00000000, VLAN1 IP (0.0.0.0)
Software Version: 5.0.0r8.3, Type: Firewall+VPN

M Example:
ns5200(M)-> get system

noteThe ScreenOS image is different for each Management module, so you need to know which module you have when you download and upgrade the ScreenOS software.

noteThe label on the outside of the Management module will refer to M or M2.
