noteThe Juniper Networks NetScreen-Security Manager (NSM) installation provides an option to enable local backup of the GUI server and the Device server.

noteYou can either specify based on the day of the week or the full path of the backup.

To restore the NSM database from a local backup, perform the following steps:

Log in to the NSM server either via SSH or Telnet.

Navigate to the directory where the restore script is stored. 
cd /usr/netscreen/HaSvr/utils

Enter the command that corresponds with the type of backup restoration you desire, and press ENTER.
 

  • If you are planning to restore the backup from last Monday (1 is Monday, 2 is Tuesday, 7 is Sunday), enter the following command:

    ./restoreDbFromBackup.sh 1

    The backup from the directory /var/netscreen/dbbackup/backup1 is restored. 


  • If you want to restore from a specific backup, enter the following:

    ./restoreDbFromBackup.sh /var/netscreen/dbbackup/backup5

    The backup from the directory backup5 will be restored.

 

Answer the questions below as prompted: 
Checking input parameters.............................................ok
Stop all NSM servers and restore from backup? (y/n) [y]
Checking if you are the root user.....................................ok
Checking if the backup GUI server database exists, doesBackupDbPathExist: ok
Checking if the backup Device server database exists, doesBackupDbPathExist: ok
WARNING!!! No startToken and completeToken files were found. Is this a restore from backup or HA replication to a remote server? (y/n) [y]
Stopping all NSM servers..............................................ok
Restoring GUI server database, restoreLocalBackupFromPath: ...........ok
Restoring Device server database, restoreLocalBackupFromPath: ........ok


The backup will be restored and the NSM services will be started.
