Firewall Running ScreenOS 5.1.0r3 Crashes When VoIP, H.323, or Video Calls Are Made

There is an issue in ScreenOS 5.1.0r3 with firewall devices crashing when VoIP, H.323, or video calls are made. To resolve this issue, download and install Special Engineering Release ScreenOS 5.1.0r3a from the Juniper Networks software downloads page.

noteScreenOS 5.1.0r3a is based on ScreenOS 5.1.0r3 and is only available until the next public mainline release.

noteThe following are a few of the issues addressed in ScreenOS 5.1.0r3a:
  • 04880 - Some H.323 traffic caused the internal sequence numbers to allocate incorrectly, which caused the system to fail.
  • 04857 - Malformed/corrupted RTSP packets caused the system to fail.
  • 04962 - Erroneous Sun-RPC packets caused internal memory corruption.
  • 04936 - Incorrect packet data length caused an error in the ALG, which caused the system to fail.
noteThe following are a few of the adjustments made in ScreenOS 5.1.0r3a:
  • 05034 - Protection was added to prevent null pointer exception errors.
  • 05136 - Protection was added to ensure the BGP neighbor has the correct VSI for the outgoing interface.
  • 05177 - Corrections were made to resolve an internal memory issue.
