When downloading files via FTP, an FTP server might send a 550 Requested action not permitted message.

This may occur because of the combination of FTP, FTP-GET, and FTP-PUT were configured in a custom service group. FTP-GET is designed to only receive FTP files, and will deny any attempt to do an FTP-PUT. Conversely, FTP-PUT will allow the sending of FTP, but will deny any attempt to do an FTP-GET. As a result, when the two are placed in a group, they will cancel each other, and the user will not be able to perform a "put" or a "get". Use either FTP-GET, or FTP-PUT, but do not combine the two.

To configure a standard FTP service, perform the following steps:

Step one: Open the WebUI. For more information on accessing the WebUI, select your product from the list below:


From the NetScreen options menu, click Policies.

In the From drop-down menu, click Trust, and then in the To drop-down menu, click Untrust.

Click New.

Under Source Address, click to select Address Book Entry. From the Address Book Entry drop-down menu, click to select Any.

Under Destination Address, click to select Address Book Entry. From the Address Book Entry drop-down menu, click to select Any.

In the Service drop-down menu, click to select FTP. In the Action drop-down menu, click to select Permit.

Click OK.
