[ScreenOS] Creating a Custom Zone

Article ID: KB4826 KB Last Updated: 29 Mar 2021Version: 6.0

This article describes how to create a custom zone.

Note: This article applies to ScreenOS 4.0 and later.

To create a custom zone, perform the following steps:

  1. Open the WebUI. For more information on accessing the WebUI, refer to KB4060 - Accessing Your NetScreen, SSG, or ISG Firewall Using the WebUI.

  2. From the NetScreen options menu, click Network, and then click Zones.

  1. From the Zones page, click New.

  1. Enter a Zone Name.

Note: For this example, we entered a Zone Name of custom.

  1. From the Virtual Router Name drop-down menu, click to choose the virtual router in whose routing domain you want to place the zone.

Note: For this example, we chose trust-vr.

  1. Click to choose the Zone Type.

Note: Layer 3 creates a zone to which you can bind interfaces in NAT or Route mode. Layer 2 creates a zone to which you can bind interfaces in Transparent mode. Tunnel Out Zone creates a tunnel zone and binds it to the selected carrier zone.

Note: For this example, we chose Layer 3.

  1. Click OK.
