Configuring a RAS VPN Using NSM

Solution:

To configure a RAS VPN using NSM, perform the following steps:

Connect to the NetScreen-Security Manager (NSM). For more information, go to Connecting to the NetScreen-Security Manager

Expand Object Manager, and then click to select Address Objects.

From the Address Tree tab, click the Add button.

From the Network dialog box, in the Name text box, enter a name for the new address object.

In the IP Address and Netmask text boxes, enter an IP address and netmask, and then click OK.

Expand User Objects, and then click to select Local Users.

From the Add menu, click Local.

From the Local User dialog box, in the Name text box,

  • enter a name for the new local user.
  • Click to select Enable.
  • Click to select IKE, and then configure the IKE user settings.

Click OK.

Expand VPN Manager, and then click to select Protected Resources.

Under Protected Resources, click the Add button.

From the Protected Resource dialog box, configure a protected resource.

From the Security Gateway dialog box, in the Security Gateway Device and Zone drop-down menus, click to select a gateway device and zone.

Click OK.

Click OK.

Expand VPN Manager, and then click to select VPNs.

From the Add menu, click AutoKey IKE RAS VPN.

From the New AutoKey IKE RAS VPN dialog box, in the Name text box, enter a name for the new RAS VPN, and then click to select Enable.

Click OK.

Expand VPNs, and then click to select the new RAS VPN.

Under Policy Based Configuration, click Protected Resource.

From the Protected Resource dialog box, click to select the protected resource created in Step 10 through Step 15, and then click OK.

Under Remote User, click Users.

From the Remote User dialog box, click to select the local user created in Step 6 through Step 9, and then click OK.

Click Termination Points.

From the Termination Point dialog box, under Firewall Device and Termination Interface, verify the correct device and interface are selected, and then click OK.

Click Save.

Expand Device Manager, and then click to select FW/VPN Devices.

Right-click the device, and then click Update Device.
