Summary:
Cannot get tftp to work with Linux
Symptoms:
Use Linux as tftp server
Save config to a tftp server
Perform software upgrades via tftp
Cannot get tftp to work with Linux

Solution:

On the Linux box:

  1. Ensure xinetd RPM is installed
  2. Ensure the tftp-server RPM is installed.
  3. Enable tftp on the Linux box:
    /sbin/chkconfig tftp on
  4. Reload the xinetd configuration
    /sbin/service xinetd reload
  5. Create a tftpboot directory (if you haven't done so already)
    mkdir /tftpboot
  6. When you apply the tftp command on the NetScreen, make sure the entire path is specified

    Example:
    From the CLI:
    save config from tftp 1.1.1.1 /tftpboot/config.txt to flash
