Console connection times out

Note: The console timeout also affects SCS and telnet timeouts
Solution:

The console connection has a timeout associated with it.  If there is no activity within a certain time period, the console connection will time out, and close the connection.  If connected with a console, a new login is required.

Console settings can be checked using the following CLI command:

netscreen-> get console
Console timeout: 120(minute), Page size: 22/22, debug: buffer
privilege 250
ID State  Duration Task Type   Host
 0 Login       887   31 Telnet 1.1.1.1:1081
 1 Logout        0   17 Local
 2 Logout        0   12 Local

 

To modify the timeout connection, from the CLI:

set console timeout [Enter]

save [Enter]

Here is the problem or goal:

  • Console connection times out

  • Keep console connection up for extended period of time
