Summary:
Remote Client VPN with overlapping subnets
Symptoms:
Environment:
  • Using NetScreen Remote to connect to corporate network
  • Local network is same as corporate network
  • IP address in hotel is on same subnet as destination internal network
  • Obtain address dynamically from hotel's internal network
  • Internet connection from hotel network

Symptoms & Errors
  • VPN not working from hotel
Solution:
 
If the local network address that is assigned to the NetScreen Remote client is on the same network as the destination network through a VPN, the VPN must utilize the tunnel interface to get around the overlapping subnet problem.
