[ScreenOS] How do I add a VSYS license key?

Summary:

This article explains how to add a virtual system (VSYS) license key.

Symptoms:

The VSYS button is not showing up in the Web UI.

Cause:

The VSYS button does not appear in the Web UI under the following conditions:

  • When the ScreenOS device is in transparent mode (5.4 and below).
  • When VSYS keys are not installed.
Solution:

Transparent Mode

Support for VSYS in transparent mode was added in ScreenOS 6.0.

VSYS keys

Load the VSYS keys. From the Command Line Interface (CLI), perform the steps below:

  1. Execute the exec license-key <license-key> command.
  2. Enter reset.
  3. At the prompt, enter y.

Example:

ns5200-> exec license-key <license-key>
You have to reset the device to activate the license key.

ns5200-> reset
System reset, are you sure? y/[n] y
In reset ...
