[ScreenOS] What is a bounce back session?

Article ID: KB5572 KB Last Updated: 28 Aug 2020Version: 4.0
Summary:

What is a bounce back session?

Solution:

A bounce back session means that the packet is forwarding to the trusted interface and the firewall is sending it back out from the same interface. This could happen if the host default and route table are incorrectly configured. A session will be created in the session table for this type of traffic. This can be avoided by not using the ScreenOS device to function as a router.
