Summary:

This article illustrates the method to save device configuration to TFTP server, along with the prerequisites.

Symptoms:
How do you save the device configuration to a TFTP server?
Why are some users unable to save the configuration to a TFTP Server and get the "Error: Save Fail: Root privilege is required" message?
 
Solution:

Only users with root privileges can save a config to a TFTP server. Non-root privileged users will get the above error if they attempt to save the configuration to a TFTP server.

Log in as a root user, and from the command line interface (CLI), enter the command:

get config > tftp 10.45.200.115 test.txt

Or, you can use the following command:

save config from flash to tftp 10.45.200.115 test.txt
