Article ID: KB5845 KB Last Updated: 24 Aug 2011Version: 7.0
Summary:
Alarm LED is yellow/amber when two Juniper firewalls are in a NSRP cluster
Symptoms:
Environment:
  • HA Setup with two Juniper Firewalls
  • Set the NSRP cluster ID on both units as the same value
Symptoms & Errors:
  • When NSRP is configured on both Firewall devices, the alarm LED is lit yellow/amber on both units, and it looks like the units are faulty.
  • The Juniper Firewall has normal console access and can communicate via the WEBUI.
Solution:

This is normal behavior. When HA/NSRP is configured, the alarm LED on both units will turn yellow/amber to let you know they are configured for NSRP. This is because there is now an informational event in the event log.

If you issue a 'clear led alarm' on both units in the HA pair, the LED's will turn off. If any of the LEDs turn red, there is a critical event that has been reported to the log. This could be due to an HA problem or any other critical problem.
