Symptoms:
How to advertise a specific route entry to BGP peer(s), without requiring redistribution into BGP.
Cause:

Solution:

To advertise BGP update to peer(s), use the set network x.x.x.x/x command. For example:

FW(untrust-vr)-> set protocol bgp
FW(untrust-vr/bgp)-> set network 172.16.1.0/24

To view the the routes that are advertised to BGP peers:

ns500(untrust-vr)-> get proto bgp rib-in neighbor 10.10.11.2 advertised
i: IBGP route, e: EBGP route, >: best route, *: valid route
Prefix Nexthop Wt Pref Med Orig AS-Path
-----------------------------------------------------------
>i 172.16.1.0/24 0.0.0.0 32768 100 0 IGP
Total IPv4 routes advertised: 1

For the above command to work, you need to have one active route for this prefix in the local routing table. However, if you do not have any active route for the prefix to be advertised, use the following command:

FW(untrust-vr)-> set protocol bgp
FW(untrust-vr/bgp)-> set network 172.16.1.0/24 no-check
