[ScreenOS] What is the 'set mac' command?

Article ID: KB6120 KB Last Updated: 22 Jun 2010Version: 6.0

What is the 'set mac' command?

Symptom & Errors:

  • set mac command doesn't work

The 'set MAC' command sets a static MAC address per interface to the MAC learning table of the ScreenOS firewall device. This command is only available on ScreenOS devices in transparent mode. If the device is in NAT or Route mode, the 'set MAC' command will not take any effect. There is no way to change the MAC address of the physical interface itself.

The syntax for the command is as follows:

set mac <mac-address> interface <interface-name> vlan <vlan id>

For more information, go to Transparent Mode Overview.
