Article ID: KB6294 KB Last Updated: 07 Oct 2008Version: 2.0
Summary:
Monitor SNMP values on the NetScreen
Symptoms:
SNMP configured on NetScreen SNMP values are reporting undefined for the VSYS

The Netscreen uses the function provided by address module to get address entry name, but such functions obtain says context from command task. So there are problems to get address entry's name under vsys.

When a Netscreen 500 is queried by SNMP to multiple VSYS the response is undefined

A sample response from the Netscreen

SOURCE    DESTINATION  SERVICE  NAT   ACTION
Undefined   Undefined   ANY    N/A    Deny
NetScreen returns incorrect SNMP values for policy of virtual systems
Solution:

NetScreen uses the function provided by addr module to get address entry name, but such functions obtain vsys context from cmd task. There are problems to get address entry's name under vsys.

Current versions do not pass the correct vsys context to get address entry under vsys.

FIX:

ScreenOs version ns500.3.0.1k1.0 has the fix for this problem.
