Article ID: KB6350 KB Last Updated: 15 Dec 2017Version: 6.0
Summary:
This article provides information on how to pass 802.1q VLAN tagged packets across the NetScreen firewall.
Symptoms:
Unable to pass 802.1q VLAN tag packets
Solution:
  • Passing 802.1q tagged VLAN packets is possible only with the transparent mode, running ScreenOS 5.0 or higher. You need to enter the set interface vlan1 vlan trunk command.

  • If the firewall is running in layer 3 mode, you will need to configure a sub interface for each VLAN to accept traffic from. Traffic will then be retagged based on the egress interface.
