Problems accessing GroupWise Email Server through NetScreen
Symptoms:
Outgoing policy with DIP Outbound traffic translates to DIP address Problems accessing Groupwise Email Server through NetScreen Client sends traffic from source high port to destination low port Server responds with high destination port to high source port
Solution:

The solution applies to ScreenOS 4.0.0 and higher:

If the server responds with a high source and destination port, the server may be initiated a new session inbound, and not matching the state of the originating outbound session.  To resolve this, use the DIP sticky command:

set dip sticky [Enter]

Here is the problem or goal:

  • Problems accessing GroupWise Email Server through NetScreen
  • Client sends traffic from source high port to destination low port
  • Server responds with high destination port to high source port

  • Outbound traffic translates to DIP address
