Article ID: KB6453 KB Last Updated: 29 Mar 2019Version: 5.0
Summary:
Can I create a Dial Up VPN to a DHCP assigned NetScreen device running ScreenOS?
Symptoms:
Environment:
  • NetScreen has a dynamically assigned IP address from a DSL
  • Dial Up VPN to a NetScreen with dynamic IP address
Solution:

A Dial Up VPN is only possible if the NetScreen it is connecting to has a statically assigned IP address.  You cannot build a VPN if both sides of the VPN have dynamically assigned IP addresses.
