Summary:

This article explains how to assign an IP address to an interface.

 

Symptoms:

Cannot assign an IP address to an Interface

 

Solution:

To add an IP address to an interface, make sure the interface is bound to a Security Zone. 

set interface <interface-name> zone <zone-name>
set interface <interface-name> ip <IP/Mask>

Example: To assign interface ethernet1 on the trust zone with an IP address of 10.1.1.1/24:

set interface ethernet1 zone trust
set interface ethernet1 ip 10.1.1.1/24
