Recommended Thresholds for Screen Attack Options

Article ID: KB6481 KB Last Updated: 22 Jun 2010Version: 4.0
Recommended Thresholds for Screen Attack Options
SYN Attack

This solution is more of a recommendation on setting attack threshold for Screen options.

The threshold values for the attack options will vary from network to network.  The actual threshold value used will depend on traffic pattern, and types of applications being run.  The default threshold values are to be monitored first, then adjusted to match the desired network performance.

It is recommended to determine normal functionality of the network environment, and obtain optimum performance settings.  This is what is popularly known as a benchmark.  You can do this by using a high value for the threshold, and decreasing the value until an alarm is triggered.  Conversely, you can use a low value, and the alarm will be triggered.  Increase the threshold until the alarms disappear.
