How Do I Permit Only One Service for a Dial-Up User?

Symptoms:

Environment:

  • NetScreen Remote 8.2
  • Security Policy Editor 10.0.0 (Build 10)
  • Permit only one service
  • Dialup to LAN VPN
  • one service
  • NSR

Symptoms & Errors:

  • NetScreen Remote Fails IKE Phase 2
  • NetScreen Remote set to a single service
  • NetScreen Dial-up VPN Policy set to a single service
Solution:

To configure NetScreen-Remote to permit only one service for a dial-up user, perform the following steps:

note: In NetScreen-Remote version 8.2r1, the ability to specify only one service can be configured.

From the Start menu, click Programs, select NetScreen-Remote, and then click Security Policy Editor.

From the Security Policy Editor, click the Add a new connection icon.

From Remote Party Identity and Addressing, in the Protocol drop-down menu, click to choose a protocol.

note: The use of All does not allow you to continue.

Click to choose a service from the Port drop-down menu or enter a new name for a service, and then enter the destination port number for that service.

note: If the destination port text box is grayed out, press TAB. Leave the port as My Identity at All.
