Summary:
Configuring PPTP for MIPs
Symptoms:

Environment:

  • MIP
  • PPTP

Symptoms & Errors:

  • MIP configured for PPTP but it fails. 
  • Remote Client gets message "VERIFYING USER ID/PW" and gets no response from here.
  • Traffic coming but not coming out.
  • Sample Policy that will fail:
    set policy id 1 from "Untrust" to "Trust" "Any" "MIP(1.1.1.1)" "PPTP" nat dip-id 2 Permit
    set policy id 2 from "Trust" to "Untrust" "Any" "MIP(1.1.1.1)" "PPTP" nat dip-id 4 fix-port Permit
Solution:

A policy using MIPs with Fix-port needs to be enabled both directions. Please see sample policies below:

set policy id 1 from "Untrust" to "Trust" "Any" "MIP (1.1.1.1)" "PPTP" nat dip-id 2 fix-port Permit
set policy id 2 from "Trust" to "Untrust" "Any" "MIP (1.1.1.1)" "PPTP" nat dip-id 4 fix-port Permit
