Summary:
This article provides information about the functionality of the set ike initiator-set-commit command.
Symptoms:
Information about the functionality of the set ike initiator-set-commit command.
Cause:

Solution:
The set ike initiator-set-commit command.sends a request to the responder to confirm the establishment of the new IPsec SA. The initiator does not use the new SA, until it receives this confirmation.
Firewall> get ike initiator-set-commit Commit will not be set when the phase 2 session is initiated.
Firewall> get ike initiator-set-commit Commit will be set when the phase 2 session is initiated.
The new SA will be used, when a confirmation of the establishment of the new SA is received from the peer. After receiving the 2nd message in quick mode, the firewall sends out the 3rd message and waits for a confirmation (CONNECTED) message from the peer.

In the output of debug ike detail:
Waiting for confirmation: Phase 2 outbound waiting for commit

Notification of new SA received: Received notify message for DOI <1> <16384> <CONNECTED>.
After this message, the new outbound SA will be used for encrypting outbound traffic.
