Summary:

How Are Routing Settings Handled in Juniper Networks NSM?

Symptoms:

NSM

Solution:

Routing settings are managed on a per-device basis. In addition, routing settings that are common across devices can be set in a device template and be applied to various devices.

For example, if you want to configure 15 devices in your network to participate in a specific OSPF area, you could create a template for OSPF settings, and apply it to the 15 devices. Once the template has been created and applied to the devices, you can then change each device's specific parameters, including selecting the interfaces with OSPF enabled.

To create a routing settings template, perform the following steps:

Connect to NetScreen-Security Manager. For more information, go to Connecting to the NetScreen-Security Manager.

Expand Device Manager, and then click to select FW/VPN Device Templates.

Click +.

From the New Device Template window, click to select Info. In the Name text box, enter a Name.

Click OK.

Expand Network, and then click to select Virtual Router. Click +.

Click General Properties, and then in the Name text box, enter a Name.

Click OK.

From the Virtual Router/New - FW/VPNdevice window, click to select Dynamic Routing Protocol, and then click to select Configured OSPF Instance.

Expand OSPF, and then click to select Parameters.

note: The Parameters window opens, and the routing settings may now be selected.

Click OK.
