[Archive] HOW TO: Resume Connections with External AV Scanner after the fail-mode status

Article ID: KB7064 KB Last Updated: 24 Aug 2010Version: 4.0
HOW TO: Resume Connections with External AV Scanner after the fail-mode status
  • External AV Scanner
  • Trend Micro
  • InterScan VirusWall
  • Fail-mode
Symptoms & Errors:
  • Unable to connect to external AV scanner after the fail-mode is reached
  • Need to wait for 5 minutes before re-connecting to external AV scanner

To clear the AV fail-mode on NetScreen Device and resume the connection with the External Scanner (InterScan VirusWall) before the wait interval has elapsed, please issue the follow CLI command:

clear av <object name> fail-mode

This command clears the failure status so that when the next SMTP or HTTP traffic arrives, the NetScreen device immediately attempts to connect to the AV scanner.

Additional Information:

By default, when the number of consecutive failed attempts exceeds the fail-mode, the NetScreen device waits FIVE minutes (default) before resuming its connection efforts. To modify the default fail-mode threshold, please refer to KB7065 for more details.
