This article provides information on how to configure FTP with a custom control port.
Symptoms:
Environment:

  • FTP via a non-standard control port.

  • Custom ALG.
Cause:

Solution:

To configure FTP to use a custom control port, perform the following procedure:

Note: The following information assumes that you want to configure the firewall to allow FTP by using the '35021' control port.

  1. Define a custom service for FTP:
    set service Custom-FTP protocol tcp src-port 1-65535 dst-port 35021-35021
    This creates the non-standard FTP service port.

  2. Create the policy for the service:
    set policy id 1 from trust to untrust any any Custom-FTP permit
    This allows connections for the FTP service.

  3. Enable the custom ALG for the policy:
    set policy id 1 application ftp
    This turns on the ALG for FTP on the port for this service.
