How Do I Update a Device With a Policy in Juniper Networks NSM?

Symptoms:

Symptoms & Errors:

  • Configlet successfully loaded on HSC
  • NSM successfully updates HSC but no policies are pushed
  • Update completed, but shows no change in policies
  • Problems Pushing Rules to HSC from NSM
Solution:

note: Before any updates to a device can be made from the NetScreen-Security Manager (NSM), a policy must be specified. Otherwise an update will be performed and no policy rules will be pushed to the device.

note: Before updating to FP2r1, you must update the device admins. For more information, go to How Do I Import the Device Admin Before Performing an Update to FP2r1 for Juniper Networks NSM?

 

To update a device with a policy in Juniper Networks NSM, perform the following steps:

Connect to NetScreen-Security Manager. For more information, go to Connecting to the NetScreen-Security Manager.

Expand Device Manager, and then click FW/VPN Devices.

Right-click the device, and then click Edit.

In the Policy Name drop-down menu, click to select a policy.

Click OK.

Right-click the device again, and then click to select Update Device.
