[ScreenOS] Configuring Manage-IP in an NSRP Cluster

0

0

Article ID: KB7831 KB Last Updated: 04 Sep 2009Version: 3.0
Summary:
Trying to individually manage each device in an NSRP cluster.
Symptoms:
In an NSRP cluster, unless you configure manage-ip, you cannot manage each device individually.  However, there are some instances where you cannot configure a manage-ip for an interface in NSRP.
Solution:

You can only configure a manage-ip on a VSI on VSD 0.  ScreenOS will not allow you to configure a manage-ip on a VSD other than 0.

Example:

HQ:USA-ns25-1(M)-> set interface ethernet3:1 manage-ip 10.1.1.35
                                                ^------------unknown keyword manage-ip

Resolution:

If you want to manage each interface individually, set the manage-ip on ethernet3 instead (VSD 0).  If you have a VSD-less configuration, you would manage the device using the actual physical IP of the interface itself (since the interface is local in a VSD-less configuration).
