Article ID: KB8117 KB Last Updated: 10 Jun 2010Version: 4.0
Summary:
Installing NetScreen-Remote on top of an existing IPSec client
Symptoms:
Environment:
May contain one of the following VPN clients:
  • Nortel Extranet VPN Client
  • Checkpoint SecureRemote VPN Client
  • Cisco VPN Client
  • PGP VPN Client

Symptoms & Errors:

  • Unhandled Exception error
  • Blue Screen of Death (BSOD)
  • Error Number: 0x80040703
  • Failed to find dll function: IRECOMMON.CopyIreToCAPI
  • Error message "Setup will now termintate"
Solution:
NetScreen-Remote cannot be installed on a system that has an existing VPN client installed.  Installation of the DNE driver will conflict with the existing VPN client driver, and in many cases, will cause a blue screen on the PC.

Workaround:  It is recommended to uninstall the existing VPN client (and all remnants of that driver from the registry).  After this is uninstalled, then install NetScreen-Remote.
