Firewall not advertising BGP routes

Article ID: KB8287 KB Last Updated: 20 Aug 2010Version: 3.0
Summary:
Firewall is not advertising some of the BGP routes which are added explicitly using network command.
Symptoms:
Firewall is not advertising some of the BGP routes which are added explicitly using network command.
Solution:

Firewall always advertises a route to BGP neighbor if the route is in its own routing table. i.e. route that is reachable. If you want firewall not to check whether the route is in routing table you need to add "no-check" keyword to the network command. This way firewall will always advertise the route to neighbor. You can also use conditional route advertisement as descirbed in the manual.

e.g.

In the following example, you add a static route to the network 4.4.4.0/24. You specify that the router interface 5.5.5.0/24 must be reachable from the virtual router in order for BGP to advertise the 4.4.4.0/24 route to peers. If the 5.5.5.0/24 network is not reachable, BGP does not advertise the 4.4.4.0/24 network.

set vrouter trust-vr protocol bgp network 4.4.4.0/24 check 5.5.5.0/24
