Connecting to exchange server over VPN

Summary:
Unable to connect to Microsoft Exchange server over a VPN even after path flow mtu and tcp-mss is set.
Symptoms:
When connecting to Exchange server over a VPN Outlook returns error stating the server is not available.
Solution:
Outlook may be timing out the connection before the response by the server is able to establish the connection. To change this go into the control panel choose Mail>e-mail accounts>View or change existing e-mail accounts>Next>Highlight "Microsoft Exchange Server">Change>More Settings, then at the bottom of the window increase the value in "Seconds Until Server Connection Timeout". The default should be 30, You should be able to connect by changing it to 45 but depending on the speed of your connection you may need to set it higher.
